lavendon parish council
here to serve the community
Milton Keynes is on the verge of being the first town in the UK which has a recycling centre and an energy from waste park
Welcome to all of you to 2017 which promise to be another busy year for your councillors.
MK Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman is providing The Gift of Football to Milton Keynes residents to celebrate the 50th birthday of the new city.
To mark Milton Keynes hitting the half-a-century milestone, Winkelman has given all his neighbours in an MK postcode the opportunity to claim a FREE ticket to visit Stadium MK and watch a match.
We recently reported that Tesco had teamed up with Groundworks to promote community projects across the country and Lavendon Parish Council were in the final three in this area for an award.
In this, our last newsletter of the year it gives me great pleasure in welcoming Ann Kelcey to the Parish Council and she completes a triumvirate of Northampton Road councillors. It is also appropriate that we remember Dave Deacon, who died suddenly at a tragically young age on the 3rd October. Dave was a parish councillor for a number of years and brought a great sense of warmth and fun to our meetings. Our condolences go to Clare, Henry, Scarlett and Edward.
Preparation is taking place across Milton Keynes for exciting events of all shapes and sizes to celebrate the city’s 50th Anniversary in 2017.
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork on its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.
We should be in the height of summer but we could be fooled into thinking that this is an autumn report, perhaps we will have a summer yet!
We are pleased to inform you that as of 7 August, a new Sunday service between Lavendon and Central Milton Keynes via Olney will be introduced by Britannia Bus Ltd, trading as Meridian. This service is numbered X10.
The funding of Olney Library by Milton Keynes Council has ceased and therefore the villages surrounding Olney, including Lavendon, are now contributing to the running of this service.
